One of the world's greatest singers, Irish Bono of U2, will now work with Danish design company Vipp, known for its design pedal bins.

Bono will design a Vipp pedal bin which will be auctioned off at a large scale charity event in New York. Danish supermodel Helena Christensen will host this event with Vipp. Apart from hosting the event, Helena Christensen will contribute with designs for Vipp bins herself.

"We are thrilled that Bono has said yes to participating in this. He is a great personality who will help get other artists and designers involved in our event, and this will help raise even more money for the organisations we are supporting", says Steen Breiner, head of PR and communication at Vipp.

Just a short while ago Vipp opened its American headquarters in New York, and this is the reason that the company has decided to arrange a charity event in the city. Helena Christensen who also lives in New York very quickly said yes to hosting the vent. The money raised at the charity auction will be donated to the poor of New York and to children still suffering from the 1986 disaster at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl.

"We are actively involved with these organisations, Foodbank New York and Chernobyl Children's Project International, because they do important work. One out of every seven New Yorker needs support at some point due to the loss of a job and the like. As a local company it is important that we contribute and help here. And, once you have seen the conditions under which the forgotten children of Chernobyl live, it is impossible not to take action. On a commercial level we are obviously also using this as a platform to
how the Americans what a Vipp pedal bin is", says Steen Breiner.

Vipp is currently inviting other personalities to contribute with designs for the charity auction which will take place on September 18th in New York.

Bono va a diseñar una papelera con pedal para la marca Vipp que se subastará en un evento que tendrá lugar en Nueva York. La supermodelo Helena Christensen será la anfitriona este evento con Vipp. Ella también diseñará una papelera.

"Estamos encantados de que Bono haya dicho que sí a participar en esto. The Edge presenta a Peter Gabriel como Embajador de la Consciencia

El guitarrista ha presentado a Peter Gabriel en la ceremonia que se ha celebrado hoy en Londres en el Hard Rock Café en donde se le ha entregado el premio "Embajador de la Conciencia"

Como ya os informamos The Edge se ha desplazado a Londres en donde ha presentado a Peter Gabriel como nuevo Embajador de la Consciencia 2008 que concede Amnistía Internacional.

El premio fue dado a Gabriel en reconocimiento a su labor por los derechos humanos. The Edge lo ganó en el pasado, al igual que Nelson Mandela y Mary Robinson.

Amnistía Internacional anunció que va a organizar conciertos en todo el mundo, "Small Places Tour", y que tendrán lugar entre el 10 de Septiembre y el 10 de Diciembre, día de los derechos humanos.

Los lugares en donde tendrán lugar estos conciertos no han sido aún anunciados.

Al aceptar el premio Peter Gabriel declaró "fue a través de los tours de Amnistía Internacional que encontré a mucha gente en el mundo comprometidos con el trabajo de los derechos humanos"

"Fueron estas personas y sus extraordinarias historias de sufrimiento y el coraje que me pareció imposible caminar lejos de ellos, por lo que el premio "Embajador de la Consciencia" significa mucho para mí."

Bono participará en la "Clinton Global Initiative"

Bono estará de nuevo en la iniciativa que el ex-presidente de los EE.UU Bill Clinton lleva a cabo bajo el nombre de "Clinton Global Initiative"

Como ocurrió el año pasado, Bono estará en Nueva York para participar en el "The Clinton Global Iniciative Annual Meeting" que se llevará a cabo durante los días 23 al 26 de Septiembre.

Better Than Buffs

They've always sold buffs in conjunction with each season of "Survivor."

For "Survivor: Gabon," which premieres in a week, CBS is selling T-shirts in conjunction with Edun Live, the clothing brand started by Bono and his wife.

The shirts will feature the logo of the show, "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast" in the shape of the African continent on the front, and the "Survivor" logo on the back.

Proceeds for the shirts, which wil be made in Africa, by Africans, using African cotton, will go to helping fund sustainable employment in sub Saharan Africa.

They'll be sold at CBSstore.com for $24.95 a pop, starting Sept. 25, also the day of the season premiere.
