SONGS OF ASCENT - Novo álbum em 2010?

: : : : The Observer ha publicado una extensa entrevista al grupo en la que comentan su deseo de sacar disco nuevo a finales de año.

Cuando aún estamos esperando la publicación de "No Line On The Horizon" U2 ha comentado que está planeado la publicación de un nuevo disco para finales del 2009 en una extensa entrevista que ha publicado el periódico The Observer.

Bono se describe como "más meditabundo con la idea del tema de la peregrinación".

Tem se dito que o U2 já trabalha no sucessor de "No line on the horizon".
Mc: "Retomaremos a turnê em junho próximo, na California, e claro que os meninos tem
estado compondo canções. O mais provável é que lancem um novo
álbum depois da turnê, mas a verdade é que não se sabe com certeza".

Sobre o álbum depois da tour, acho que seria até legal se a banda tocasse as músicas dele durante a 360º Tour. Todos nós sabemos o quanto as músicas da banda evoluem ao vivo, então, teríamos um álbum com músicas completamente evoluídas e soando mais "completas".

Concordo,a banda teria mais tempo para elaborar as canções e decidir quais entram ou entram,sem pressa

Release Date: tentatively June 2010

Manager Paul McGuinnes told the Irish Independent that "Bono is always an optimist, but he seems confident of getting a new record out by the end of the next six months."

As for the sunglasses-clad frontman, he told the paper, "We are working away and we have a couple of yearlings in the stables that could really turn out to be thoroughbreds in the future. As a band you are always trying to work on new material and we had some unfinished material from the last album."

There have also been reports of the band spending time in the studio in New York and France. As far as tracks go, the Edge told Rolling Stone that "Kingdom of Your Love"-the U2 360 tour intro song-is a "potential 'Songs of Ascent' track." Bono also described the album as "an intimate affair."

New U2 Album Expected In June

Word is that Bono has said the next U2 album (Songs of Ascent) should be released in June, timely since the tour happens to be starting. During Bono’s interview with Sean O’Hagan he said the sister album to NLOTH would be called “Songs of Ascent” consider it to be a book end kind of like Zooropa and Achtung Baby.

We expect to see producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois once again as well as Steve Lillywhite this power house combination has seem to work well for the boys.

Some of the songs are expected to be the leftover tracks from ‘No Line On The Horizon’, but some are older. Songs expected to be used include ‘North Star’, an unused track from ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’. ‘Winter’, the song that didn’t make ‘No Line On The Horizon’ but was used in the movie ‘Brothers’ is expected to make the new album and ‘Kingdom Of Your Love’, heard in part of the intro music of the U2 360 Tour is also expected on the album.

Other tracks we might find there are “Every Breaking Wave’, ‘If I Could Live My Life Again’, ‘Love Is All We Have Left’, ‘Mercy’, ‘Lead Me In The Way I Should Go’ and ‘You Can’t Give Away Your Heart’.

Bono told the Irish Independent that the album may be out in June. ( Note the key word MAY)

O que mais me empolgou nessa notícia: "Bono disse que o próximo álbum do U2 (Songs of Ascent) deve ser lançado
em junho, dias antes da turnê recomeçar. Durante a entrevista de Bono
com Sean O'Hagan ele disse que o álbum-irmão de NLOTH seria chamado de
"Songs of Ascent" e que consideram como uma espécie de "reedição" do

Eles falam junho mas é melhor não nos prendermos a isso para não nos desapontarmos depois, sabem como é...

Adam Clayton: Alguma coisa disso, tenho a certeza, é verdade, especialmenete para o Bono. E essas são grandes aspirações. Eu estou um pouco mais preocupado até haver 10 músicas acabadas e só depois disso isso será uma realidade para mim. Isso nos demora muito tempo. Quando o Bono escuta duas notas juntas ele escuta uma música completa. Quando qualquer outro de nós escuta duas notas juntas, nós escutamos um ponto de partida".

lembrei me exactamente disso quando li o que o bono disse recentemente... mas têm que ser espertos e lançar musicas mais cruas, tal como na decada de 80, onde a formula resultou. A passagem do UF para joshua tree foram menos de 3 anos!
